The
Pantone-system (PMS) consists of a fixed range of colours and
“recipes” for mixing them. This means a great certainty to obtain a
definite colour each time and Pantone colors are well suited for e.g.
logos. However, in the printing process the number of Pantone colors
is
limited, and usually you pay for each color.
In case more colors are needed, another system is used – called
CMYK. This system is based on 4 primary colors that can be mixed
to a countless number of other colors. Therefore this system is well
suited for printing of multicolored things e.g. photos.
It is possible to combine the two systems.
